It is Friday! Happy Fri-YAY everyone! What does that mean for the blog? – Feature Friday. Today we are going to explore something that I love very much and that is glitter and sparkle and shimmer. Where do you go to add Shimmer to your Card projects? Well to my online store of course. Go grab you some WINK OF STELLA! This week on the blog we used the Seasonal Branches Bundle. I had so much fun using it and here and there along the way, we added Wink of Stella to the projects. So this is the perfect week to discuss this awesome product!

As you can see in the picture above, Wink of Stella can be used to color in images fully and add splatter or speckles to your cardstock but that is not all it can do. I used it on yesterday’s card and if you missed that blog post and live stream click HERE and you can take a look at how I used the Wink of Stella Pen on that card.
Wink of Stella Basics
When using one of our brushes, either the Wink of Stella glitter brush or the Wink of Luna metallic brush, there are a few simple steps to follow before you get started. Be sure to follow this step-by-step guide on how to prime your brush.

The first thing you need to do is remove the black ring that is keeping the compartment holding the ink from being pierced. To do this you remove the cap and unscrew the top brush portion of the pen from the bottom ink cartridge. This will allow you to remove the black ring and discard it. Then re-screw the top brush portion of the pen back onto the ink cartridge; doing so will pierce it so that the ink can flow.
After, putting the pen back together, replace the cap, and shake the pen until you hear a clicking sound this indicates that the ink is mixed thoroughly.

Once this is done remove the cap and gently squeeze the ink cartridge where it says “Push” on the side of the pen. This will cause the ink to fill the clear plastic area behind the brush tip. Be careful not to press too hard and overfill the ink, as it will cause the pen to leak.
When you are finished using your pen always replace the cap firmly and store the pen standing up with the cap facing upwards to ensure it lasts as long as possible. Now that you’ve learned how to prime your brush, you are ready to apply glitter ink to any craft or stamping project!
Wink of Stella Tips
Wink of Stella Glitter Brush acts just like a fine paintbrush, with a nylon brush tip that can produce thick or thin lines of glitter, allowing artistic freedom. They are perfect for writing, adding controlled glitter, and stamped projects. Create handcrafted personal cards, accent pictures in a scrapbook, trace lettering or add your own, and add sparkle to any project. They work best on paper products and use a water-based pigment. The pigment is photo-safe, acid-free, lightfast, odorless, and xylene-free.
I am in LOVE with the Clear brush!!! It is perfect for painting over your hand-colored stamped images to give it a little shimmer and it looks beautiful on everything I have tried it on. Additional uses are watercoloring with the re-inkers or ink smooshed in your ink pad lid, adding sparkle to DSP by painting over random images, creating highlights to a balloon or other images, and adding shimmer to plain cardstock punch out or die cut.
What can you do with an empty Wink of Stella Brush?
Don’t throw your empty Wink of Stella brushes away!!! Recycle them into an Alcohol Coloring Brush!!!
- Remove the cartridge from the bottle (use your craft scissors).
- Add 10 drops of your choice of re-inker color. You can always add more drops of re-inker after testing your color out.
- Fill the rest of the chamber (up to the bottom of the H in the “PUSH” on the side of the bottle) with rubbing alcohol. Replace the chamber.
- Shake vigorously.
- Test your marker to check the color. If it’s not dark enough, add more drops of re-inker, shake, and retest.
- Stamp images with our Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Color your images with your new coloring brush!
