This week’s Facebook Live showcased the Approaching Perfection Stamp Set. It is a sentiment set with multiple funny phrases for birthday cards. It also includes 2 small images, a balloon, and a set of candles. I chose to showcase it with the Oh so Ombre Designer Series Paper. Four of Stampin’ Up!’s beautiful colors are spotlighted in this paper pack, in solids and patterned dots. What a must-have! The best part is that both Approaching Perfection and Oh So Ombre DSP is FREE during Sale-a-bration (with qualifying purchase)!!!!
For the first project, I wanted to create a birthday party feel. So, I pulled out my Stitched Triangle Dies and cut out a bunch of colors and patterns of triangles from the Oh So Ombre DSP.
I wanted to make the pennants pop off the card. To do that, I prettied up a piece of Basic White Cardstock up by using Stampin’ Blends markers to add stripes. By cutting out the center of the cardstock with a Stitched Rectangle Die, I was able to create a striped frame around the card front.
I even added cute little bows from white twine and attached them to the card. It gave a realistic feel to those pennants on the card front.
The pennants are so bright and festive on this card. Paired with the striped frame, those dotted pennants really sing.
I stamped the sentiment in two colors, cut it apart, and attached each piece to the card separately. The words look great nestled in between the pennants. I really love the look of that.
I even carried the pennant theme inside the card, where I attached a smaller string of pennants. I used Stampin’ Blends on those as well to add stripes. I stamped the words ‘Happy Birthday’ in Granny Apple Green Classic Ink. Lastly, two small balloons finished it off.
For my second card of the night, I used a circle theme. I started by using the Dainty Diamond Embossing Folder on the front of this piece of Rich Razzleberry Cardstock.
Here is a close up of the Embossing Folder.
The next step in the process was to use my Layering Circle Dies to cut out a circle in the front of my card. I wanted the inside of the card to show.
The sentiment on the front of the card was stamped in Granny Apple Green Classic Ink. I used a piece of the solid DSP in the Oh So Ombre pack to mat it. It produced a great look!
Next, using Stampin’ Write Markers, I colored the candles and stamped them on a piece of Basic White Cardstock. It too was cut into a circle with the Layering Circle Dies.
Using the leftover piece from the first card. I adhered it to the inside of the card. I also stamped, colored, and cut out the donkey from the Darling Donkeys Stamp Set. He was attached in the bottom lower corner of the card. I didn’t want him to peek out of the circle hole on the front.
The last thing I did was to tie a piece of white twine into a bow and attached it around the card. It finished off the card perfectly. Don’t forget to watch me make both cards, tune in to the replay on my Facebook Business Page.
